Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025

While TVs and smart phones tended to dominate this year’s show, several new medical devices were premiered.

Circular’s Smart Ring

With five percent of North American’s having atrial fibrillation, the ring features US Food & Drug Administration (FDA)-approved Atrial Fibrillation detection algorithm.  It also has an an improved ECG sensor.  The battery now lasts eight days instead of two.

But what’s really cool is that the app can calculate your ring size, which should be the industry norm.  It’s titanium and comes in four colours, gold, silver, rose gold and black.

Withings Omnia Mirror

Mirror, mirror on the wall.  Whose the smartest of you all?  It has to be the Withings Omnia smart mirror.  While you check your reflection, the mirror (along with the base that you stand on), gives you a full health assessment.  Paired with other Withings gadgets, you can get information on key health metrics.

Actually, Omnia covers a whole ecosystem of products, though the smart mirror is the big new idea. Data would also be pulled in from other Withings gadgets, such as their smart watch, to give you a comprehensive rundown of your key health metrics.  This also can detect signs of atrial fibrillation, as well as heart rate and blood pressure.   Withings says it will also be able to run ECG (electrocardiogram) scans.  However, the reality is that it’s a concept product and not for sale as of yet.
